Why Bulgarian Rose Oil Is So Special?
Our Rose Oil is steam-distilled from Rosa Damascena flowers grown in Bulgaria’s world-renowned Rose Valley, where the unique climate and fertile soil create ideal growing conditions. Using only water and steam, this time-honored extraction method gently preserves the rose’s natural character while producing a pure, solvent-free essential oil. Nearly three tons of freshly harvested rose petals are required to produce just one kilogram of pure rose oil, making it one of the world’s most precious botanical ingredients.
Why We Blend Pure Rose Oil with Other Oils?
Pure Bulgarian Rose Oil is highly concentrated and should not be applied directly to the skin. At Lema, we use steam-distilled Bulgarian Rose Oil, a traditional process that uses only water and steam to gently extract the rose’s essential oil without chemical solvents. In contrast, Rose Absolute is produced using solvent extraction, creating a highly fragrant extract commonly used in perfumery. We choose steam-distilled Rose Oil for our skincare because of its purity and our family’s generations of distillation expertise.

Our skincare is made in our Rose Oil distillery in Bulgaria. Crafted in small batches to help ensure freshness and careful attention to every bottle. We formulate without added preservatives, relying instead on thoughtfully selected ingredients and protective packaging to help preserve the quality of our products.
